Dorothy, a respected Mohican Elder, was the first American Indian woman and first person of color to graduate from UW-Stevens Point in 1945 She is a treasured Indigenous woman elder and educator who was born on her reservation and educated in local schools before going on to earn her BS and MS degrees in Education. Dorothy has been recognized by the State of Wisconsin for her commitment to multiculturalism and social justice and her involvement with the American Indian Studies Summer Institute. She was honored by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point through having a room in the University Center is named for her.

Dorothy is a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Extension. During her 50-year career in education, she served as an advocate for American Indian issues and leadership development. She continues to be active as a leader in educational projects, retreats and workshops. She is a member of the UWSP Board of Visitors, chair of the Stockbridge-Munsee Historical Committee, a member of the Mohican Nation Constitution Revision Committee and an elder /honorary board member of the Indigenous Women’s Network.
