|
|
|
|
Goal
Overview
The magazine is
entirely written by Indigenous Women activists and grassroots workers
in the movement from across the Americas. The magazine is a conduit
to:
-
Highlight the work of Indigenous women
-
To bring attention
to critical issues of Indigenous communities
-
To share
prototypes and best practices of projects and models for sustainable
community development
-
To disseminate
information and provide education on Indigenous issues
-
To create a
network of Indigenous women and their communities for discussion and
support purposes
-
To demonstrate
“concrete” outcomes of Indigenous Women’s Network
programs
-
To assist in
fundraising for organization programs and projects
Plans for 2008
-
Produce two issues a year, one in the spring (May deadline) and one
in the fall (October deadline).
-
Research magazine
content through identification of current issues affecting
Indigenous women which relate to community development, health,
culture and language, children, education, domestic Native policy
and international Indigenous issues. The magazine will provide
examples on how to address issues in a manner that will get results
and that will honor our culture and traditions that can be
replicated by Indigenous communities.
-
Develop a
business plan that will ensure the financial stability of the
magazine and that will keep the magazine fresh and relevant
including incorporation of new contributors whose voices are watered
down or altogether ignored by the mainstream media.
