Purpose:
The Triennial Indigenous Women's Gathering unites dedicated Indigenous women leader's to promote and encourage a new generation of activists and organizers committed to the socioeconomic well being of Indigenous peoples' and their communities. Guided by cultural values, women will interconnect their knowledge and skills to insure the sovereignty, self determination and sustainability of their families, communities, and nations.

2008 Gathering:
With the invaluable guidance of our founding mothers and with the assistance of young women activist's, we will create a process to assess the needs of our constituency membership and network of supporters.

The 2008 gathering will celebrate 22 years of Indigenous women's leadership in international advocacy, sustainable development, health and reproduction rights, and the preservation of Indigenous traditional knowledge, culture and identity thus providing

  • strategic tools for successful advocacy,
  • support  to Indigenous women and their families and
  • networking opportunities for Indigenous women to discuss critical issues in their communities.

The women's gathering will be held triennially and will correspond with the Indigenous Women's Network strategic planning cycle. All Indigenous women's organizations and individuals are invited to participate, please email iwn@indigenouswomen.org if you would like to be added to our contact list.
